Day 45 of the Waco Standoff

April 13,1993
The negotiators began a conversation with Greg Somers at 12:12 a.m. discussing the possibility of his coming out. At 12:29 a.m., Koresh unexpectedly came on the line and began a rambling, disjointed religious discourse, Each time the negotiators would attempt to steer the conversation to substantive matters, Koresh would simply keep preaching what the negotiators called "Bible babble." Koresh continued virtually non-stop until 5:49 a.m. The only matter discussed of any substance was his oft-repeated position that God said to wait, and that he was not coming out until God told him.
At 10:10 a.m., DeGuerin attempted to contact Koresh through the FBI; however, Koresh would not speak to him since it was the Sabbath. Schneider told DeGuerin to call back at 8:30 p.m.
At 8:30 p.m., DeGuerin called back as instructed; however, Koresh still refused to speak to him.

(The Myth: At about noon [19 April 1993] FBI agents on foot entered the Church, and fired shots which struck plaintiffs many of whom were dead, or unconscious from gas inhalation.)

[The Truth: That came from a purported lawsuit against the FBI. Trouble is, for the Waco Wackos, anyway, none of it is true.

[Page 21 of the Danforth Report:
"The evidence indicates that the Davidians who died from gunfire either committed suicide or were shot by other Davidians. One former Davidian, Kiri Jewell, testified before
Congress that Koresh had taught her, when she was 10 years old, how to use a gun to kill herself. Moreover, Dana Okimoto, a former Davidian, reported to the government on March 3, 1993, that Koresh had instructed his followers that, if he died before they did, the women should kill
themselves or receive assistance from the men, who were to go on a shooting spree before they died. Title III intercepts indicate that on March 16, 1993, a Davidian, possibly Koresh, discussed committing suicide by shooting himself. These statements further support the conclusion that the Davidians shot themselves and did not die as the result of government gunfire."]
