GOP Cocksucker #307 Whines About the Press

The Latest On GOP Cocksucker #307

Sen. John Ensign, FURIOUS that he can't get the news of him being investigated by a grand jury for indulging in what's called a 'quid pro quo' out of the papers, took time to fire at the media for indulging in 'gotcha' journalism for even REPORTING on the case.

At first Ensign tried to stonewall the story by refusing to answer questions about it, when it was just a case of him fucking his best friend's wife on the sly. But the press simply wouldn't let it go, in particular Nevade-based political writer Jon Ralston, who, the more he dug into the story found more and more people willing to talk. And #307 didn't help himself either by refusing to resign and end the thing.

Instead, Ensign thought--still thinks--he can serve out his term and ever get reelected, despite the fact that he admitted to banging Cindy Hampton, the wife of his best friend, Doug Hampton, like a kid slamming a screen door after running out of the house.

Ensign has tried to portray it as a 'mistake in judgement,' which is really not the point, since the Senate Ethics Committee investigating the affair turned it over to the Justice Department after finding troubling instances of what looked like a quid pro quo by credit card companies who may have made campaign contributions to the National Republican Senatorial Committee, which Ensign chaired at the time, in exchange for good treatment in front of Congress. Several former Ensign aides and several businesses in Nevada were subpeoned a couple of weeks ago. When Ensign was asked AGAIN, if he had been subpeoned, he went on a tirade about the press having the impertence to expect and answer to its question.

Ralston derisively snorted when asked about Ensign's contention that the press was playing 'gotcha' journalism with the case. Ralston asked how the press could be playing 'gotcha' journalism when #307 either ducks questions or refuses to answer the most basic questions about the case, such as why did his parents pay the Hamptons $96,000 after Ensigh had fired them from his staff or why he tried to find Hampton jobs with companies he'd put the arm on to contribute to campaigns.

When #307 appeared on CNN a few months ago to slam President Obama, CNN anchor Rick Sanchez ignored what Ensign was saying and started asking him about the Hampton Affair and why anyone should believe what Ensign said about the President since he wouldn't talk about nailing his best friend's wife. Ensign was visibly startled and hasn't made a TV appearance on CNN since.

With thanks to TPM Muckraker, Politico and Nevada political writer Jon Ralston.
